Susan Hayward stars as former prostitute Ada Dallas, the fiery wife of southern politician Dean Martin, in an MGM rags-to-riches tale.
Wilfrid Hyde White is Martin's scheming political adviser, who threatens to expose Hayward's colourful past if she continues to appear at her husband's side.
Martin Balsam is also effective as Martin's press agent. This is a mesmerising melodrama from Daniel Mann.
