2001 A Space Odyssey.

Now and then a (rare) film becomes a landmark in filmmaking - different from anything that has gone before and altering those yet to come. Such a film is Kubrick's 1968 Super Panavision 70 production, 2001, still impressive despite considerable advances in special effects and if for some , the 141 minutes of the full feature is something of an endurance test, then the 3.30 minute trailer might be more to their liking.

For those who maintain the movie is pretentious, this pretentiousness is more palatable, or at least a shortened form - so you can still impress by pretending to like it and not suffer protracted paralysis of the brain or nether regions.

For those looking for suitable Scope material to swell the archives then this film certainly fits the bill and the screen by way of a small bonus chucks in some of the most famous and talked about scenes in cinema history. Can't be bad!

Reasonable definition but with dupyish colour and quite good sound although it was a bit fluttery on that rather well known bit of music - what was that now? pah, pah, pah, te-tum, te-tum.......?
